Since the
morning of 12th November a serial of repression, that our country
has never seen before, is taking place. In the early hours of the morning, on
a day of a country-wide strike, Greek police forces invaded the houses of five
university students. The citizens, all living in Agia Paraskevi, a suburb of
Athens, were arrested under the issue of a warrant by the Italian authorities demanding
their extradition. The event is unbelievable taking under consideration the
only prior event was their random adduction at a cafeteria in Milan in 2/5, a
day after the first May strike!
This prosecution procedure on
university students from another EU country, using a European arrest warrant,
in the causation of their participation to the 1st May strike
protest, is an unprecedented event. The prevention of this extreme repressive
method concerns the defense of every human's right to participate in political
gatherings.
Early this morning we, politically active citizens of this town including neighbors, friends and relatives of the arrested, gathered in the Agia Paraskevi city hall, demanding the end of any prosecution and custodial, as well as their non-extradition, in any occasion, in Italy.
